Sound-buffering aisle signs
New this year, NAMM will be pioneering sound-buffering aisle signs and panels located throughout the show floor at the ACC and ACC North. Manufactured by the sound absorption specialists at GeerFab Acoustics, the design of the aisle signs features a two-inch thick fiberglass substrate wrapped in an acoustically transparent fabric that is custom printed with NAMM aisle sign graphics – two discrete graphics per sign. These custom-made signs are designed to help reduce sound levels across The NAMM Campus and are similar to the models used in the Anaheim Hilton's Pacific Ballroom, home of the Annual TEC Awards and other premier events, since 2014. In addition, thirty 48" x 96" MultiZorbers are being installed in each of the two Live Sound Demo Rooms.

NAMM exhibitors are able to use GeerFab’s MultiZorber panels for their own booth signs or in the construction of their exhibit to contribute to the absorption of sound in the exhibit hall. Custom graphics and sound-blocking materials can be incorporated with sufficient lead time. If you are interested in using this technology, contact Joe Pestka with Freeman at joe.pestka@freeman.com to develop a sound-absorbing solution for your exhibit.

And in a “why didn’t I think of this first” concept, NAMM 2018 will be pioneering sound-buffering aisle panels (hung overhead to indicate what row you are in), located throughout the show. Manufactured by sound absorption specialists GeerFab Acoustics, these 4x8-foot overhead panels feature a two-inch thick fiberglass batts wrapped in an acoustically transparent fabric that’s custom printed with NAMM aisle sign graphics. The intent is to absorb some of the background hash and break up standing waves, which hopefully will result in a quieter show floor.

Another weapon in combating ambient noise at NAMM probably went unnoticed by most attendees. The overhead signs hanging on the aisles flagging each row’s number served as additional acoustic treatment for the hall on both floors. GeerFab Acoustics manufactured all the signs for the project. There were 101 signs in total, measuring 48 x 96 x 2 inches. Hanging from them at a 90-degree angle on aluminum t-frames were another 101 at 48 x 24 x 2 inches, along with an additional nine 96 x 36 x 2 and six 96 x 48 x 2 for the lower-ceilinged rooms.

The signs were printed on acoustically transparent fabric from Guilford called Paradise. About its dependability, GeerFab’s Eric Geer says the fabric “lets me sleep at night.” The fabric was custom-printed at GeerFab in Milwaukee using a dye sublimation process on both sides. Fabrics were then sewn together with seams along sides and then grommets punched through for mounting, fully encapsulating 2 inches by 2 pounds (pcf, or pounds per cubic foot) fiberglass. ACOUSTIC TREATMENT PRODUCTS

Welcome to the RoomZorber line of acoustic products by GeerFab Acoustics.

Controlling sound waves reflecting in any music room is critical to a rewarding recording and listening experience. Deployment of absorption and diffusion products is key to a balanced-sounding room.

Absorption – wall panels, baffles, corner bass traps or clouds – is the single most effective way to lay the acoustic treatment foundation, and fiberglass is the best and most versatile broadband absorber.

Fiberglass comes in various densities, denoted as # or pcf (pounds per cubic foot). The most common densities used in acoustic treatment products are 1.5#, 1.65#, 2#. 3# and 6-7#. GeerFab Acoustics RoomZorbers use custom 2# Certainteed, 3# Owens Corning 703 and 6-7# Owens Corning 705 substrates.

Each density has its own unique absorption and cosmetic properties and its own set of installation methods. These are discussed on the individual product pages.

The RoomZorbers product line includes two MultiZorbers, so named because of the variety of mounting methods: the 2# MultiZorber II – an upgrade to the award-winning original MultiZorber – and the 3# MultiZorber OC703 with the famous Owens Corning 703 substrate and the innovative InvisiGrommet mounting system.

And then there’s the 6-7# ProZorber / TrapZorber / SkyZorber family. Currently, the ProZorber is available, with the TrapZorber and SkyZorber coming soon in 2017.

All RoomZorbers are Made in USA. In fact, the MultiZorber II and MultiZorber OC703 are Made in Milwaukee and the ProZorber is Made in Wisconsin!
